$4 Bistro set reveal

Ok so here is the bistro set, all finished :) sorry for the delay, I was waiting for a cloudy day to take pictures! Click here to see the other post.
Before:

After:
please ignore my rock bed full of weeds EEEEK

I used 2 cans of Rustoleum PAINTER’S TOUCH ULTRA COVER 2X In Apple Red.

Tips:

  • If its rusted (like mine was) use Rustoleum!

  • Cover the ground, I did this and I still ended up painting a lot of my driveway red

  • Wear beat-up clothes, I thought I was being careful but still had red streaks in my clothes.

  • Painting metal wire furniture is harder than it seems, I waited a day to put the second coat on and noticed a lot of spots missing, then waited another day to look for more spots to touch up

  • A little extra: I sprayed a bit of acrylic once it was dry for extra coverage, the can I had laying around my house.

  • I only spent $4 for both cans by waiting for a Joann 50% off coupon

Summer Planning

I am sitting at my desk, tuned The Bravery on my ipod because I can't get a damn thing done at work and need motivation. I realized I haven't heard the band in awhile, it reminded me of Summers in Chicago. I lived there for about 2 years, and hated it. But summer is incredible in big cities. I have a whimsical fondness to Chicago in the summer. I was outside trying dozens of differnt types of food street-side under canopies people watching, dancing in the street to the bands at the Neighborhood Street Festivals, midnight biking marathon, playing pool volleyball at the apartment pool parties which had free margaritas and hot dogs, Cubs games, stayed up too damn late (4am) sillies.
I was going through a lot at that time and by the time I left Chicago for Minnesota, I was just about ready to live like a hermit, be quieter, stiller, "settle down". Snore. That didnt happen, I think I'd go crazy if I had. But missing Chicago made me realize that I can do most of those things here in Minnesota too. Most cities have an "Expolore Your State" Site. Explore Minnesota has everything from sports events to scenic drives.

Here is this summer's goal: Get out, be out, have fun. I want to go to a few outdoor concerts, dine al fresco, go to festivals, get cultured, museums, arboretums, gardens, art shows etc. And $10 or under. Hey I have a kitchen re-model to save up for and of course I will blog about them here :)

What are you planning on doing this summer?
PS-Here is a picture of the 2006 L.A.T.E. Ride I found online, bottum right corner is me :) We were one of the first to sign up, I had my bike covered in glow sticks and was one of the (bad) few without a helmet, so I was easy to spot.

What is your decorating style

Decorating Style
Do you know what yours is? I have a pretty good idea, I like two things: old and comfy. Antique finds like books, mason jars and art work mixed with classic furniture, cozy throws, soft pillows etc. If you follow Young House Love, they put out an article on 3 ways to pin down your style here. I thought I would share mine with you all.

patio chairs new life

So, if you follow me on facebook, I had a slight breakdown regarding the last Bones episode (no cable so I kinda slack and watch it on hulu online later when I can catch up) SO I decided I needed to be productive...

Here is hum drum (cute) but snore bistro set in my front yard.

Well... as many of my friends know I am a total freak about spray paint, sadly I have limited projects I can show until now. I had a wee spray can left of red paint for a ....erm....twilight swap. I <3 the damn books, cannot help it ;) ANYWAYS. One wee can little inspired me to buy another to make these:

Of course I am only half done, I need another coat and to start the table and its second coat.

But it has so much more PING against the white siding do you think? What do you think of my impromptu project? I will finish it as soon as I get another joanns 50% off coupon coz I am a cheap lil gal ;)
