Vintage little Finds

This is the Best Miniature portraits site I have ever found <3

This man's name is Lefroy, rumored to the inspiration for Mr Darcy from "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. I am thinking he looks an awful lot like Charlisle from Twilight (nerd, I knows it).

Ok I have tried to use this a dozen times before. It takes a lot of time to first figure out the site, then more time to start working on your ancestors. The best advice I can give is talk to your grandparents first! Write down as much as you can, I am sure they all would love to chat about their past and stories they heard from their grandparents and so on. Any pictures, old family bibles or books to help find names and birth/death/marriage dates. Then start your 14-day trial on ancestry.com, you can research on old newspapers, draft records etc and even connect with distant relatives. I have discovered one link going all the way to Richard I of Normandy in the 9th Century. And that Duncan the I of Scotland was the predecessor of Macbeth, who Shakespeare roughly portrayed his play on. oOo :D

Out on the Town - Claddagh

Since my husband and I like to eat out once in awhile, I thought I'd blog about the food around the Twin Cities :)

Claddagh Irish Pub

We have tried eating here for lunch and dinner, and for the obvious pint :) Always good eating.

But on Sunday we decided (impromtu desperate breakfast searching) see what was open for breakfast. To our happy suprise, Claddagh serves brunch from 9am to 3pm. My husband was giddy to see Steak and Eggs and ordered a guiness with. I had Waffles and eggs with coffee. The coffee was rich with a hint of maple but not sweet, the waffles were fluffy and delicous. Jordan's steak and eggs were perfectly cooked and well proportioned. I half debated on getting the Monte Cristo but wasn't real sure I could eat more than a bite ;) Anyone up for half-ies with me sometime?

I highly recommend the brunch! Whats your fav brunch spot?

Fun Find

I know its been awhiles since my last post, but my guy and I finally tied the knot WHOOT, so I will be posting a tad more often :)

Ok, I came across this Flickr group called The Commons. A collection of old photographs from librarys, museums and historical groups. Oodles of fun to look through.

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has finally sprung!

I have an extensive list outdoor to-dos before June (Wedding):

• Curb Appeal - Our front yard is in need of a little lovin. We want to take out all of the rock from the front and replace with something else. Also, extend the front porch maybe use some slate like this?
  
  


• Re-do the flower beds and change up the bricks circling the trees


• Plant some lavendar in front of the windows for some nice evening breeze scents


• Start our backyard garden


• Start my cutting garden


• Power wash and re-stain the deck


• Compost bin


• Rain barrel - I want to set it up so the rain from the gutters go into the barrel and some system

Here is a picture of my arranged backyard plans. Its not as crowded as it looks ;)
